Eligible Persons
Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and who intend to stay in Taiwan for less than 6 months for the purpose of transit, tourism, visiting relatives, attending a training course, receiving medical treatment or engaging in business or other permissible activities. Requirements
1. A passport valid for at least six months.
2. A duly completed application form with two color photos and size 2" x 2".
3. An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of purchase of steamship ticket.
4. Documents verifying the purpose of visit and other relevant documents.
Visa Validity
1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which Taiwan has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided in accordance with these agreements.
2. For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is generally valid from 3 months up to 1 year.
Duration of Stay
1. 14 days
2. 30 days.
3. 60 days.
4. 90 days.
Standard Fee Rates
1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which Taiwan has entered into reciprocal visa agreements,
the visa is issued gratis.
2. For other foreign nationals, the Visitor Visa fees are : single entry : NT$ 1,200 if applied for in Taiwan or
US$ 36 if applied for overseas. Multiple entries : NT$ 2,400 if applied for in Taiwan or US$ 72 if applied
for overseas.
3. The Visa application fee is NT$ 3,600 or US$ 100 for US citizens.
Remarks
If more than 8 persons wish to enter and exit Taiwan as a group at the same time, they may apply for a group visitor visa and each member of the group shall be charged 50% of the original fee.
Taiwan Overseas Missions shall promulgate the fee rates and their equivalent amount in local currencies. Unless, under special circumstances, Taiwan Overseas Missions may be exempted from promulgating the fee rates provided approved by the Ministry.
These fee rates are subject to changes by the Ministry according to price fluctuations in Taiwan and abroad, variations of exchange rates, and adjustments to the procedures for collecting the fees.
Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in Taiwan for 60 or 90 days and whose visas bear no such remark as " no extension will be granted " may apply at the nearest city/county police headquarters for a maximum of 120 or 90 days of extensions.

Regulation of Visa-Exempt Entry ( for Visitor Visa )
Countries eligible for Visa-exempt entry :
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, *Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands , New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A.
Requirements :
1. A passport with validity of at least 6 months after entry.
a. Visa-exempt entry only applicable to formal passports, not including emergency, temporary or other
nformal passports.
b. Japanese citizen is entitled to validity of passport at least 3 months, under same other requirements)
Unless otherwise stipulated by treaty or agreement.
2. A confirmed return air ticket or an air ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat
reservation for departure.
3. No criminal record.
Duration of stay :
30 days starting from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.
Procedures for Nationals of Designated Countries Applications for Visitor Visas in the ROC ( Taiwan )
(1) Nationals from following countries for visitor visas in the Republic of China (Taiwan) must fulfill the procedures of this section :
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bhutan, Cambodia, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Somalia, Syria
All applicants must have a sponsor in Taiwan for the visa applications. There are two application methods :
- Applicants may submit the visa application to an ROC embassy, consulate or representative office and inquire an application number. Applicants, who receive the application number, are obliged to inform their sponsor in Taiwan the number and inquire the sponsor to give a guarantee of the visa application to the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Taipei. The Bureau, after reviewing the guarantee application, will inform the sponsor and the ROC foreign missions the result. The ROC embassy, consulate or representative office will make the final decision of the visa application.
or
- The visa applicant may inquire his/her sponsor in Taiwan to give a guarantee of the visa application to the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Taipei. The Bureau will review the guarantee application and inform the sponsor, as well as the ROC foreign missions, the result. Qualified guarantee will be given a reference number. With the number, visa applicants may submit their application to an ROC embassy, consulate or representative office.
(2) Nationals from following countries for visitor visas in the Republic of China (Taiwan) might
submit their application at the designated office and fulfill the following procedures of this section :
- Bangladesh ( Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand )
- Ghana ( Only at the Trade Mission of the ROC in Nigeria )
- Burma/Myanmar ( Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand )
- Nigeria ( Only at the Trade Mission of the ROC in Nigeria )
- Nepal ( Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in New Delhi, Taipei Representative Office in in Singapore, Chung Hwa Travel Service Hong Kong, or Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Macau )
- Sri Lanka ( Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in New Delhi, or Chung Hwa Travel Service Hong Kong )
- Pakistan ( Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or Chung Hwa Travel Service Hong Kong )
- Cameroon ( Only at the Trade Mission of the ROC in Nigeria )
- Senegal ( Only at Embassy of the Republic of China in Gambia )
- Democratic People's Republic of Korea ( Only at Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, Yokohama Branch, Fukuoka Branch, Osaka, or Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Macau )
All visa application in this section needs a sponsor in Taiwan.
Applicants must submit the visa application to the designated ROC embassy, consulate or representative office and inquire an application number. Applicants, who receive their application number, are obliged to inform their sponsors in Taiwan the number and inquire the sponsor to give a guarantee of the visa application to the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Taipei. The Bureau, after reviewing the guarantee application, will inform the sponsor and the ROC foreign missions the result. Required Documents for Visa Guarantee Application:
- A “ Guarantee for Foreigners Applying for Visas to Visit the ROC ” application form. ( The name of the ROC embassy, consulate or representative office, where the applicant intends to file the application, and the application number, if available, shall be indicated on the designated column on the application form ).
- Explanatory notice. ( This notice shall include following information: the native of the applicant’s acquaintance and knowledge of the applicant, and the applicant’s itinerary for his/he the current visit to the ROC. )
- A photocopy of applicant’s passport.
- Records of commercial correspondence and transactions ( such as letters of credit, receipts of electronic money transfers, or bills of lading for imports and exports ).
- A photocopy of business license and registration of for-profit company.
- Other documents requested for the guarantor to provide for certain individual cases.
Attention
- As a sovereign nation, the Republic of China ( Taiwan ) has the right to refuse visa applications and reserve the right to reveal the reason of refusal.
- The Bureau, after reviewing the application, may inquire the guarantor of visa application to provide supplementary documents. Failure to provide the required supplementary documents within one month might result in the rejection of the application. All fees are not refundable.
